The "The Last Airbender" is one of the must-see film this summer 2010. Inspire by the Nickelodeon cartoon series: Avatar: the last airbender, it follows the story and adventures of AAng, a young successor to a long chain of Avatars, the master of the four element and can bend them simultaneously. Aang must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations. There are four important elements in the story: water, earth, fire, air, thus named four great nations.

In old days, there was peace between the four nations of the world. The Avatar, Master of all four elements-kept peace between the WAter Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Only the Avatar has the ability to bend or manipulate all four elements, but one day, he VANISHED. Then the Fire Nation attacked, forcing a war on the other three nations for one hundred years. Now, for the good of the world, it's up to 12-year-old Aang, the new Avatar, to master the manipulation of all for four elements in order to return peace and balance by putting and end to the war. Aang must accept his destiny by stopping the Fire Nation's war and defeating the Fire Lord for good. This movie was directed and written by M.Night Shyamalan, and it was his first adaptation movie, as a matter of fact.

The Last Airbender Ad During Super Bowl XLIV

According to Advertising Age, Paramount Pictures has purchased ad time during this year's Super Bowl for The Last Airbender. Paramount also bought time for their other summer tent-pole film, Iron Man 2, as well as Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island. Last year's Super Bowl pulled in an impressive 97 million viewers. That is a huge amount of exposure for Airbender if the ratings this year are the same. The commercial will likely only be between 30 and 35 seconds long, and will air sometime during the first or second quarter. Super Bowl XLIV will air February 7th on CBS.

Trivia!

  • The film was originally titled "Avatar: the Last Airbender", after the TV show it was based on. However, James Cameron and 20th Century Fox had already registered the film title "Avatar", so the word was dropped from the title to avoid confusion.
  • Jesse McCartney was originally cast to play Zuko, but was replaced with Dev Patel due to scheduling conflicts.
